Gamer Girl's Guide to Twitch Affiliate: Based on My Experience

When I first decided to start streaming, I did it because everyone around me was telling me to since I play games regularly. I didn't know what to do or where to start, all I knew was that I wanted to talk to people while playing games. After months of building my Twitch platform and increasing viewership, I now make revenue off of my live streams and can proudly say I have a consistent viewer base. In less than one month I was able to reach Affiliate and today I am going to give you a gamer girl's guide to Twitch Affiliate

There are three categories I will go into: consistency, variety, and engagement.

Consistency

When starting my Twitch channel I streamed almost every single day for around 4-5 hours. When trying to reach affiliate, there are certain goals you must complete before being awarded with it. One task being to stream for 8 hours and on 7 different days. During this time, my streams started at the same time every day at around 8pm. I found this time and later to be a sweet spot since most people are coming back from work, school, or getting ready for bed. I am also consistent with posting on other social media platforms to promote my live streams. Every time I go live I post on my Instagram story, Snapchat story, Twitch story, and X to get more views.

Every post made included the game I was playing, a short caption, and a link that takes you directly to my live.

Variety

To keep people entertained, I will stream a variety of different games such as FPS, horror, farming simulators, puzzles and more. This allows me to attract people who enjoy all types of games. Referring back to consistency, I'll start my stream off with a competitive game and end on a less stressful note with a quieter, easier video game. People typically get excited when they watch you play a new game since content will be fresh and they don't know what to expect. Trends come and go quickly so it is also important to take advantage of trending games and create content out of them before the game slowly dies. You will see bigger creators play more than 3 games during 1 live stream to keep everyone interested and to prevent burnout.

Here is an example from a famous streamer QuarterJade, a successful female streamer, who's recently streamed games vary in genre.

Variety gaming is a good way to increase your viewership since the last two goals you must complete are have an average of 3 viewers and 50 followers.

Engagement

Engaging with your audience on live and outside of your streams are essential to growing your Twitch platform. When just starting out, it is important to read and interact with chat as much as possible since this makes the viewers want to stay and keep talking to you. Having a conversation with chat allows them to stay engaged and will oftentimes attract more chatters and encourage them to join the conversation.

People say you grow on Twitch because of what you do outside of Twitch... and I 100% agree. I created separate social media accounts that are strictly dedicated to my Twitch persona that allows me to engage with my viewers outside of stream:

Creating a Discord server was probably the best thing I could have ever done for my Twitch engagement because it gives my viewers a public space to continue chatting with me, get live updates, and connect more outside of streaming. This allows me and my viewers to create a stronger bond and also builds a sense of community within my followers which attracts loyal followers.

My final thought is to give your fanbase a name to build a stronger sense of community. During one stream, my chat and I decided to come up with a name to call themselves and came up with the name Mika Troops (since my name is Mikachu it sounds very similar). Now when I raid people, they type "Mika Troops landing" in other people's chat.

Conclusion

There you have it folks! A gamer girl's guide to reaching Twitch Affiliate efficiently and effectively with real life examples. I hope this works out for you!! Let me know any tips I might have missed or if any of these work out for you:)
